Why is it that so many so-called journalists when faced with the "daunting" challenge of writing about annuities, a topic about which there is plenty of quality information at the ready, manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Unfortunately, "Annuities-good or bad?", Dan Barney's article published in the Paul's Valley Daily Democrat on September 19th, is amateurish, incomplete and does a complete disservice to the topic and consumers in Oklahoma and the publication's footprint. Too bad.

Barney makes numerous topic sentences and asks questions, but doesn't elaborate with any content or answers.

Then there's this cow patty:

"So what are the benefits of the money invested?   1. They enable tax free growth of the money invested."  Say whaaaat?  Holy circular logic!

There is a plethora of good balanced information about annuities that is useful to consumers and allows consumers to weigh their options.
