by Structured Settlement Watchdog
If you or a member of your family has received an email, text or phone call from someone claiming to be:
- Working closely with _______life insurance company; or
- Working in conjunction with _________life insurance company
You may also see such language on a proposal offered by someone or a company trying to buy your structured settlement payments. Pay no attention to it because it is a total scam.
Insurance companies have customer service departments and they have appointed agents or brokers, who hold active insurance licenses. You can easily verify a license online. If you are in California, please note that a legitimate California life insurance agent or broker must disclose his or her license number on proposals.
Anyone who is texting, emailing or calling you using "poop in a snow globe" should be ignored. These actors may try to scare you by saying your account has been suspended or put on hold unless you call them. It's rubbish.
We're in the process of identifying the sources of such texts and making such information available to the insurance companies whose names they are using to solicit business under false pretenses. There should be no tolerance for such dishonest and unethical business practices.
