by Structured Settlement Watchdog
With all the wordsmithing prowess of the ubiquitous, annoying, nonsensical robocall script used with social security imposter scams (" your social security number is being suspended"), some structured settlement annuitants are being targeted by factoring intermediaries with a text stating:
A. "Legal Analysis Update:
The Client Protection Division has placed a legal analysis on your POLICY. Your account may have been frozen, effective immediately. You must call 858-381-**** to resolve this matter. M-F 7AM-& 7PM PST".
- How does one place a legal analysis on a POLICY? Do you type it up first and THEN lay it on the policy like a doily? That would be a neat trick with a structured settlement since the annuitant does not own the policy. How would they gain access to the policy?
- Upon information and belief the person who sent the text is not a lawyer. Who does the "legal analysis"? Are they members of the bar where the target of the text lives?
- Your account may have been frozen effective immediately makes no sense.
- Is it a policy or an account?
