Here's yet another example of efforts of the settlement secondary market to create consumer confusion.
If a consumer sees the following listing in a Bing or Yahoo search result on the Internet, what would he or she think she was seeing?
New York Life & Structured Settlements Helping people realize the financial options they never knew they had".
A visit to the website, shows the company is involved in life settlements not structured settlements. The domain ny-settlements)dot) com is registered to Tradewind Financial, a Venture Capital and Private Equity firm out of Atlanta Georgia. A reverse IP look up today showed half a dozen life settlement domains hosted on the same server.
New York Life is one of the oldest and largest life insurance companies in the United States. Its logo is a widely recognized brand. New York Life issues structured settlement annuities. The Atlanta "imposter", for the apparent purpose of lead generation, does not. The ny-settlementss(dot)com domain was only registered March 27, 2014.
** note that the actual search result links the words New York Life & Structured Settlements to ny-settlement(dot) com. I have linked it on this blog to the actual New York Life Structured Settlements website so that consumers and readers of this blog can locate it quickly and efficiently.
