Is this is the face of a content thief? Structuredsettlements.gylnnsbusiness dot com, a website registered to Curtis MIller of "Internet Marketer" Gylnnns Ventures/ Miller Enterprises of 130 S. Charles St. , #2 Wichita Kansas** has, in multiple instances, included plagiarism of virtually the entire content from several blog posts from Structured Settlements 4Real and other websites without authorization or attribution. Miller's website also includes multiple instances of unauthorized usage of animated gifs for which the owners of Structured Settlements 4Real have paid a license fee. Has Miller paid the licensing fee?
Particularly troubling about Mr. Miller's website is that the content was not simply acquired by feed, but selected posts were plagiarized , underscoring the scienter involved.
The apparent motivation for Mr. Miller is to profit from Google Adsense ads placed around the plagiarized content. It's one of the oldest Internet tricks in the book.
The problem with the actions of plagiarizers is that search engines may penalize credible content as spam when multiple instances occur of the exact same content.Unless original content owners take action against the likes of Curtis Miller the dishonest business practice will continue.
Content owners have rights under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to go after companies that host infringing content. A DMCA complaint has been filed with the hosting company and this author will inform the licensors of the animations of the copyright infringement.
Mr. Miller's LinkedIn profile suggests that Miller Enterprises engages in Internet marketing. "Nice example" here fella!
NOTE: This post is intended to be educational to those who write content and by the exposure, both a warning and deterrent to those who are intellectually dishonest, or too lazy to write their own material.
** according to public records Curtis Miller, with the same cell number, 316-833-4819, is also the registrant of other websites with a listed address of 425 Delaware Edna, Kansas
Postscript May 2, 2010. The hosting company has notified this author that it has removed the infringing website.
