Last year I was flooded with calls from people who got tiny checks from a WalMart settlement (The Mussman Qualified Settlement Fund) and commented how class action service providers, including law firms need to be mindful of having clear communications to class members and providing a website. This year I'm being flooded with calls about why people received a W-2. I patiently fielded a 12 minute call today from a former WalMart worker who claimed he never received the $26 referred to in the W-2. Where am I going with that folks?
This epitomizes the state of confusion for some people http://www.scambook.com/report/view/65700/Iliadis-Qualified-Settlement-Fund-False-Advertising-for-26.52-on-01-28-2012 The person in the link thought the W-2 was false advertising.
When I receive such a call, I'm patiently doing what should be the law firm or administrator's job speaking to someone's clients by simply referring them to the New York City firm that appeared to handle the case from a Google Search. But honestly someone needs to do a better job of communicating. If you have a website keep it up at least until the fund is completely closed.
That was yesterday. This is today....
Update January 31, 2012. The number of calls we have received is nuts. I am posting most of the comments to show how poorly the communication appears to have been from those in charge of Mussman and Illiadis QSFs.
THIS POST IS FOR INFORMATION. WE ARE NOT WALMART. WE DONT REPRESENT THE MUSSMAN QUALIFIED SETTLEMENT FUND OR ILLIADIS QUALIFIED SETTLEMENT FUND!
WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CAN...

This law firm at the end of the phone number appears to handle Walmart class action cases.

I just received a W2 form of 31.55, however, never had I received any check. Probably this has got to do with a change of address. The W2 form was sent to my previous address and later resent to my current address. Had a check been sent to my previous address, hopefully, it would have been redirected to my new address as the postal people did with the W2 form.
I need a check not a W2.
