Biography

John D. Darer is an experienced structured settlement broker, settlement consultant and registered settlement planner who has a wide range of practical experience in helping to resolve personal injury and employment claims settlements as well as the development of innovative technological applications (such as the in4structure® platform) and cost saving solutions for complex claims in jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Mr. Darer also lends his expertise to select claims projects, involving structured settlements, or periodical payments, outside of the United States. Mr. Darer has over 26 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is a graduate of the Syracuse University School of Management with a degree in marketing. In addition to holding the FINRA Series 7. 63 and 66, he has earned the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant from the American College the Certified Structured Settlement Consultant professional certification (CSSC), developed in conjunction with the executive program at the University of Notre Dame and the Registered Settlement Planner, through Texas Tech University and the Registry of Settlement Planners. His broad background in structured settlements, litigation support, diversified financial planning and securities and significant practical experience brings a valuable asset to the table for his clients. John actively participates in continuing education programs and is a prolific writer, commentator and educator on subjects related to the structured settlement industry, the structured settlement factoring industry, settlement planning matters and litigation recovery management.

Mr. Darer has been published in the AIA Binder (01/00), "Structured Settlements: You Save, They Prosper" in International Risk Management magazine (2/95) and the Vermont Captive Chronicle (10/93) and has addressed trade associations within the structured settlement industry. He was also a speaker on the subject of structured settlements at the annual meeting of the WV and VA Bar Associations in July 2003 an participated on a panel discussion concerning the Packaging of Settlements to the American Bar Association Tort Insurance and Trial Practice-Aviation Section (TIPS) in November 2005. He is a commentator and structured settlement expert for the Legal Broadcast Network (LBN)

Mr. Darer has advised numerous claimants, attorneys, corporations, insurance companies, syndicates, and government entities on issues concerning structured settlements, economic damages and transfer of risk in the domestic, London, and French and South American insurance markets. From 2006-2008 Mr. Darer has been co-chair of the Technology Commitee and a member of the Branding Committee of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association, having previously served on its Technology, Education, Public Relations and Long Range Planning Committees. In April 2007, for the second year running, John was one of four recognized for outstanding leadership to the National Structured Settlement Trade Association and the industry it represents. In addition to the NSSTA, he is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the Aviation Insurers Association and a Charter Member of the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals ("NAMSAP"), Association for Advanced Life Underwriting ("AALU") , Retirement Income Industry Association ("RIIA") and Brain Injury Association of CT.

As one of the structured settlement industry's most prolific thought leaders, John Darer has published or posted over 2,110 articles on the subject of structured settlements, settlement planning issues and litigation recovery management, best practices in advertising and solicitation of structured settlements, structured settlement watchdog commentary to help to expose questionable structured settlement business practices, exposing questionable structured settlement purchasing (factoring) industry business practices, structured athlete and celebrity endorsement fees, structured installment sales and other matters of interest to readers.
